Data sovereignty as a success factor for digital ecosystems
Innovation in business ecosystems is increasingly taking place through the cross-company exchange of data. When providing data, however, data producers and data owners are often at risk of losing control of the strategic value of their data resources. As a result, data sharing remains limited and the potential of data ecosystems remains untapped.
The "International Data Space" (IDS) addresses this cross-industry conflict by enabling data providers to share data while maintaining data sovereignty. The Initiatiative International Data Spaces (formerly Industrial Data Space) aims to create a secure data space that enables companies of all types and sizes to manage their data assets with confidence.
As part of the International Data Spaces initiative, the Fraunhofer Academy and the Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Engineering offer the two seminars "Basic Seminar Data Sovereignty and International Data Spaces" and the "Hands-On Software Workshop - Implemented Data Sovereignty by the International Data Spaces" (the last one is currently not available).
